Counseling
Counseling, at its heart, is a relationship.
Not between an expert and a problem that needs fixing.
Not between a skill-set and a project that needs work.
It is a relationship between
people who are both weak and glorious,
creatures who are both broken and beautiful,
embodied souls who are both finite and immortal,
human beings who need both their Creator and each other as they journey together for a season.
Where Life Grows
Can hope be found in a place of desperation? When we’ve tried everything and are left feeling empty, broken, and alone, could that actually be a gift? Could life begin when we’ve come to the end of ourselves and have no other choice but to come out of hiding and ask for help from another human being?
That’s what it took for me. But hope found me there. God found me there. And He reached to me through people. Through people I opened up to. Through people who accepted me as I was. Through people who walked with me in the valleys and helped me face things I thought would kill me. Through people who helped me learn to hope, to trust, and to love.
This is Abiding Together’s aim in counseling. It’s not a formula. It’s a relationship. But that is God’s way. In relationship with Him and others (both together) is where He gives life.
If you would like to begin journeying together in a relationship toward renewed hope, trust, and love, I would be honored to walk with you.
